Common Complaints and Reliability

• 1. Steering System Issues:

  • Steering coupling is loose, causing excessive play in steering.
    
  • Steering sector becomes loose while driving, leading to inability to steer the truck.
    
  • Front tires wore 5 to 10 times faster than the rear; front tires sliding more than rotating when turning on loose sand at low speed.
    
  • Steering arms may have the wrong part number and incorrect geometry (toe out in turns).
    

• 2. Fuel System Issues:

  • Gas tank dropped and was sagging due to corroded and rusted straps.
    
  • Design of the faulty muffler caused a portion of the plastic gas tank to partially melt and eventually spring multiple leaks.
    
  • Vehicle suddenly took off full throttle, causing a loss of control, despite not falling under a specific recall for injection pump date code.
    

• 3. Frame Issues:

  • Crack in the frame on the passenger side near the rear of the wheel well, attributed to an obvious flaw in design where the inside of the frame is open with a hole at the bottom.
    

• 4. Seatbelt Issues:

  • Driver seat belt pulled the mounting bolt off the lower mount while the driver was buckling up.
    

• 5. Brake System Issues:

  • Rear brakes do not adjust.
    
  • Front right caliper does not release, resulting in vehicle accident due to ABS locking up.
    

• 6. Transmission Issues:

  • The 5-speed manual transmission failed.
    

• 7. Tire Issues:

  • BF Goodrich All Terrain TA LT235/85R16 tires experienced sudden shimmy, separated belts, and tread coming apart while driving at 65 MPH.
    
  • Rubber was thrown at traffic, and belts punctured the carcass causing air leakage.
